Di tengah lingkungan kumuh New York, Sol Nazerman, seorang pegadaian Yahudi yang dingin dan penyendiri, menyimpan luka mendalam sebagai korban selamat Auschwitz. Kehilangan keluarga, iman, dan kemanusiaan, ia hanya peduli pada uang, sementara kilasan masa lalu menghantuinya. Asistennya, Jesus Ortiz, ingin belajar darinya, tapi ketika Sol mengetahui bisnis gelap yang ia jalankan terkait dengan dunia prostitusi, trauma atas nasib istrinya di kamp konsentrasi meledak.
