Di tengah kehancuran perang di Eropa Timur, seorang anak kecil dikirim orang tuanya untuk tinggal bersama bibinya demi keselamatan. Namun, ketika sang bibi meninggal secara tak terduga, ia terpaksa mengembara sendirian di dunia yang liar dan kejam, di mana prasangka dan takhayul menguasai segalanya.
