Berdasarkan kisah nyata, Salomon "Sally" Sorowitsch, raja pemalsu uang, hidup mewah di Berlin hingga ditangkap Nazi dan dikirim ke kamp konsentrasi. Kemampuannya yang luar biasa membuatnya dipindahkan ke Sachsenhausen untuk memimpin Operasi Bernhard—memproduksi uang palsu guna meruntuhkan ekonomi musuh Jerman.
