Di era 1930-an, Roger Schumann, mantan jagoan penerbang Perang Dunia I, kini terpuruk dalam sirkus akrobatik pesawat yang mematikan. Keluarganya hidup dalam kesengsaraan sementara ia terobsesi dengan pesawat, satu-satunya cinta sejatinya.
