Di tengah kehancuran pasca-serangan udara, Profesor Uehida Hyakken memilih meninggalkan kehidupan akademisnya untuk menjadi penulis, tinggal di gubuk sederhana dengan ketenangan yang tak tergoyahkan. Setiap tahun, murid-muridnya mengadakan perayaan ulang tahun unik, menanyakan (Sudah siap?), hanya untuk mendengar jawabannya yang penuh makna: (Belum!). Film ini menyelami kehidupan sehari-hari di Jepang dengan keindahan yang sederhana namun mendalam, mengajak penonton merenungi arti ketabahan dan keabadian.
