Di tengah kekejaman Perang Dunia I, sekelompok aktor Finlandia terancam hukuman mati di kamp tahanan. Namun, ketika seorang jenderal Jerman yang berpengaruh datang, komandan kamp yang kejam memberi mereka tawaran mengerikan: mereka harus mementaskan komedi—dan jika berhasil membuat sang jenderal tertawa, nyawa mereka akan diselamatkan.
